Easy Etna Nord Trekking is a pleasant experience on the northern slope of Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Immersed in pine and beech forests, slashed at times by lava flows and adventitious cones, the north side of Etna presents an extraordinary naturalistic heritage.
The area we are going to discover is that of Piano Provenzana, the historic ski area which in 2002 was devastated by the imposing eruption of that year. To date, the area is still in a very slow reconstruction phase, which has caused a drop in tourist crowding, in favor of a more peaceful and immersed experience into the nature.
This excursion does not present technical difficulties and winds on a variable path of about 4/4 and a half kilometers. An activity that will give you the opportunity to enjoy lunar landscapes mixed with glimpses of forests. Ideal for those who want to occupy only part of the day without giving up the excitement of living “a ‘Muntagna”.
Piano Provenzana can be reached from Linguaglossa or Fornazzo via the Mareneve regional road. It is the closest touristic area to Taormina and to the Gole dell’Alcantara complex, in the homonymous valley, overlooked by several villages with medieval historical centers, such as that of Castiglione di Sicilia, elected one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
